Our firm was incorporated in Hong Kong by Ms Ella Cheong, a world-renowned intellectual property practitioner in Asia, in association with ELLA CHEONG SPRUSON & FERGUSON (SINGAPORE), which she established at the invitation of the Singapore Government. ECHK was conceived as a bidirectional gateway for trade and commerce between China and the rest of the world, particularly in technology-related industries. In particular, we are focused on the procurement, commercialization and enforcement of all types of intellectual property, including specifically patents, designs, copyrights, trade marks, trade names and domain names, in HONG KONG, the PRC and MACAU. We have an unusual blend of professionals who have cross-cultural training both from the East and the West. Our pool of patent and trademark practitioners is fully bilingual. Our Hong Kong office, ELLA CHEONG (HONG KONG) deals with all IP issues for Greater China (i.e. Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and the mainland of China). Even though we do not yet have offices in China, we do file to a great extent there dealing with the matters ourselves here in Hong Kong and then filing through associates in China with whom we have a fee-sharing arrangement so that not only would our clients be assured of the quality of service but also that the charges would be comparable to those being charged by China agents. In addition, our associated Singapore office ELLA CHEONG SPRUSON & FERGUSON deals with IP matters for other countries of South East Asia (including filing directly in Singapore and Malaysia through our offices in these 2 countries, as well as for Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar) Brunei and the Indian Sub-continent (encompassing India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka). |
